PROFILE:
Since graduating from the University of Bristol in 2004, I worked as a volunteer with Trichotillomania Support while also employed as a Support Worker for children and adults with Autistic Spectrum Disorders, learning difficulties, physical and mental health challenges. I have been lucky enough to work full time as Manager of Trichotillomania Support since 2009.
In my role as manager at Trichotillomania Support I thoroughly enjoy working with our volunteers and service users. I have learned a lot while steering our organization to new challenges including optimizing production of good quality health and social care information in accordance with the Department of Health’s Information Standard. My current aim is to facilitate access to treatment for Trichotillomania on the NHS; including new but effective treatments such as our own specifically designed Online Coaching Program.
I am passionate about maintaining and improving our service to hair pullers who wish to recover; and believe it essential that such a service exists in the UK. I understand hair pulling from personal, social and academic aspects; and advocate a combination of a wide range of approaches - including behaviour change, self-development, physical health improvement, sub-conscious programming, and positive motivation. I believe our Coaching Program is the only treatment to adapt and apply all of these approaches (and more) to trichotillomania. Having enhanced my life with these techniques, I am keen to help others do so through my work as a Trichnotherapy Coach.

INTERESTS: When I’m not working for Trichotillomania Support I love to fundraise and volunteer for other projects. I visit Valley of Tumaini orphanage in Kenya every year and fundraise for them here in the UK. It is a wonderfully rewarding part of my life that I can thoroughly recommend. If you are interested in volunteering for them in the UK or in Kenya please contact me for details or see the website
I have gained a lot by working with Homeless projects in Bournemouth; my favourite was volunteering at the Drop Inn Soup Kitchen for 4 years under the mentorship of role-model John Coulston. John is also involved in rebuilding lives at Michael’s House
I also volunteer for many worthwhile causes with the Rotaract Club of Bournemouth. |
